About Skewed North

Skewed North is the work of artist and traveler Jolene Dames, created under Made by Dames.

What do you do after twenty-six years working on film sets, wandering through more than thirty countries, and becoming a widow at forty? You build another life.

Skewed North is about art, loss, reinvention, and learning to live off course — on purpose.

It started with the stories: the places I’ve been, the things I’ve seen, the wrong turns, the unexpected moments, and the feelings that stay with you long after you’ve come home. Those stories live in my writing hub at SkewedNorth.com. This shop is another part of that journey.

Everything here begins with my original artwork and designs. I make these pieces because sometimes something resonates with you. A place. A feeling. A memory. A little piece of a story you want to take home with you. Like a souvenir from a trip, each piece is meant to carry a feeling with it.

I keep the shop intentionally light. There’s no warehouse of inventory or piles of things waiting to be sold. Pieces are created when they’re ordered, which means I make what is needed and leave the rest behind.
